  • The latest report of the National Center for Education Statistics (2018) showed that 33 7% of postsecondary students in the United States were enrolled in at least one online course in 2017 Social cognitive models highlight motivational factors and the interrelationship among students\' beliefs and their use of learning strategies in these highly independent learning situations (Pintrich, 1999;Zimmerman, 2000) [ ]social cognitive models emphasize the influence of social and environmental factors on students\' personal beliefs, associated behaviors, and academic success in online education (Pintrich, 2000;Richardson & Swan, 2003;Zimmerman, 2000) According to Zimmerman and Moylan (2009), general self-control strategies include self-instruction, imagery, time management, environmental structuring, help-seeking methods, interest incentives, and self-consequences [ ]students demonstrated several significant adaptations of SRL strategies that were unique to the web-based learning environment such as planning for technical problems, accessing technical expertise, creating a psychological place for class, better use of time and environment management skills, using student postings and exemplary assignments as models, and frequent checks of online gradebook and note-taking (Hsu et al , 2009;Igo et al , 2005;Puzziferro, 2008;Whipp & Chiarelli, 2004)
