  • The COVID-19 broke out in December 2019 has brought severe challenges to medical institutions and health security in China During the control and prevention of this epidemic, various problems in the healthcare system, including shortage of healthcare resources and medical workers, and poor public health awareness, have been revealed General practitioners, one of the main providers of primary care, play an extremely important role in the control and management of the epidemic in conjunction with physicians from higher level hospitals We analyzed the problems and weak links in fighting against COVID-19 epidemic, summarized the development of general practice, and the weaknesses of general practice care revealed in combating the epidemic, with recommendations for improvement, hoping to enhance the role of general practice in the management of major public health events Copyright © 2020 by the Chinese General Practice
